Digital Technology Highlights
Digital technology enables the storage, transmission
and retrieval of a significant amount of movie information
exactly as it was originally recorded at a fraction of the
expense usually required for printing and shipping film reels.
Analog technology loses information in projection,
generally degrades with each viewing, which requires replacement
of the physical film print during the run. On the contrary,
digital projection consistently offers movie audience “an
opening night” at each and every showing.
Digital information is significantly more
flexible and secure than analog data, thereby offering the
film companies a much greater degree of transparency and control
over copyrights than with origination film reels.
